memory or money leak?

Monday, August 28th, 2006

yepp, apple always showed some decadence when it came to memory pricing, but today their webshop really let me choke big time:
try ordering one of the latest mac pro desktop machines and throw in 16gigabyte of silicone instead of the 1gigabyte “factory default”. price difference? 5.500 euro credits. i repeat: fivethousandfivehundred. that’s the mac pro base pricing x 2. or 5 macbooks.

or: 4.500 euro credtis difference to the price of 16gigabyte ddr 2 at 667mhz shopped at the supermarket around the corner.

the white stuff seen on the latest macbooks memory slots has to be cocaine, i’m absolutely sure.

if you’re like me, there’s at least one feature os x is really missing: the ability to switch between arbitrary windows without touching your mouse. cmd-tab can only switch between applications. exposé also doesn’t satisfy my needs. take a look at witch

quicksilver

my #1 must have tool: Quicksilver/.

quicksilver is, what spotlight should be (although spotlight is quite nice already). just go and install it - you will never ever want to miss it again. if you don’t love it from minute one, you didn’t get it. read this fine documentation. you might also wanna read that document, if you love quicksilver and want to explore some of it’s more advanced features.

the time has come. disko’s and dom’s talkativeness threatens to burst their heads. we’ll see wether this proves to be an appropriate valve, which is able to save their lives…
